The homepage says Aider works best with Claude 3.7 Sonnet, DeepSeek R1 and Chat V3, OpenAI o1, o3-mini, and GPT-4o, and can connect to almost any LLM, including local models. That list lags the v0.86.0 release notes, which add GPT-5 models and Grok-4 model names. Treat the homepage list as the marketing claim and the release notes as a later change.
